Collective Soles Arts Group and Jansen Dance Project would like to invite you to experience the Nutcracker in a way you never have before. We have taken everyone’s favorite holiday Ballet and turned it into a present day extravaganza that the whole family can enjoy. Featuring the music of Duke Ellington, this event is filled with great dance, humor, sarcasm, and a nutty twist to a holiday classic. This contemporary Nutcracker begins Thanksgiving Day with an annual family gathering. Joining the festivities is eccentric Aunt Mary who presents the children with a gift in a unique box. After a day filled with feasting and football, the Dad falls into a deep slumber and the adventure begins. From a giant football-playing Turkey to dancing squirrels, shopping frenzies and parties, the Dad is faced with the contemporary challenges that the holidays present. Throughout our story, Aunt Mary’s unique box, a box of Hope, appears as a symbol to remind us that less is more, and that the most important thing is the love we have for one another. You won’t want to miss Bay Area Dance Company’s 2nd annual performance of "Goin’ Nuts" this December.
